Durational Installation and Performance Event The Happening
Saturday, August 24 | 12:00 to 16:00 | Forum Box
Organized by Gátt Nordic Arts Festival, The Happening at Forum Box is a multidisciplinary dive into the unknown, the surprising, and the yet-to-be-defined. During the event, performative installations and initiatives that explore the process of making art will spread throughout Forum Box’s newly opened exhibition, which showcases contemporary Norwegian art.
The Happening is open to the public on Saturday, August 24, from 12:00 to 16:00. Visitors can drop in at any time, observe the ongoing durational performances, participate in discussions with artists, and view the exhibition on display at Forum Box. The event features, among others, a durational performance and installation by circus artist Milla Jarkko (FIN) from the Tiikeri Project, titled Rääppiäiset 2024, which presents a meta-performance: a combination of improvisation, rehearsal, installation, audacity, encounters, social media, and a playful rererererererererererererererererererepresentation of experimentation and incompleteness. Another act is filmmaker Maria Tórgarð‘s (FO) interactive audiovisual installation Speak into the void and it might answer, which abstractly explores the unconditional connection between our inner and outer worlds.
During the day, there will also be an electroacoustic installation by sound artists Walter Sallinen (FIN) and Kaj Mäki-Ullakko (FIN), titled Et le passé revit le temps d’une visite for string quartet and live electronics. Here, baroque string music larp collides live with epic kitsch-classical themes from the Australian MasterChef reality show. Preceding the installation, there will be an artist talk with photographers Tonje Bøe Birkeland (NO) and Elina Brotherus (FIN).
Welcome to Forum Box on Saturday!
