Café Barock:
Rock Poetry – Se tavallinen tarina

Rock Poetry – Se tavallinen tarina

Rock-poetry and old music come together in Ensemble Nylandia’s dark and narrative-driven concert!
A wine- and cigarette-scented experience takes the audience on a hazy journey, from the shadowy corners of 17th-century England’s court to the rock clubs of 1970s New York’s Bowery, not forgetting Finnish rock.

The program is a collection of songs by singer-songwriters from different eras, each with unconventional stories behind their lyrics. These tales speak of desires, betrayal, madness, petty gossip, fleeting moments of happiness, foolishness while intoxicated, and heartbreaking sorrow. As we explore the creation moments of these songs and the backgrounds of the songwriters, the stories gain more layers, and their meanings deepen, refine, or sometimes even completely change in tone. In the end, it often comes down to what all stories share: regardless of the century, love and its contradictions run through the narrative as an underlying theme.
