Welcome to brick-making workshops by Pavel Rotts on 15.8. and 22.8. between 14.00-16.00 at Forum Box!
Guided by the artist, participants learn how to shape bricks from clay. The workshop forms part of Pavel Rotts’ ongoing research into collective memory and the traces of war in the urban environment.
The workshop uses the simple act of making bricks as a metaphor for rebuilding and healing. Brick by brick, participants engage with questions of memory, loss, absence, and renewal, transforming a traditional craft process into a shared reflection on history and place.
Participants are encouraged to personalise their bricks by engraving them with shapes provided by the artist or by bringing an object of their own to create an imprint.
The workshop is free of charge and open to all; no previous experience is required.
The bricks will need approximately one week to dry, after which they can be collected from the gallery and taken home.
