In connection with Markus Kåhre’s solo exhibition, Tiuku Club will host an event at Forum Box on Friday 12 September, where artists and researchers will come together to discuss the theme “Afterlife and AI”. The premiere will feature a Tanabot based on the philosopher Hannah Arendt (1906–1975), a creation coded and trained by researcher and coder Anton Berg, implemented with artificial intelligence.
The performance will also feature a short film by Petter Korkman based on the play Jälkielämä (En: Afterlife), which premiered at the Finnish National Theatre’s Maalaamo studio in November 2024. The play Jälkielämä – Keskusteluja elävien kuolleiden kanssa was produced in collaboration with the multidisciplinary and multinational, EU-funded Digital Death research project led by the University of Helsinki and Professor Johanna Sumiala. Sumiala’s research project examines how the participation of the “living dead” in the human world changes us, society, death and life. The event offers an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about the meanings of art, artificial intelligence, life and death – and how these evolving concepts shape our future.
