Can one interact with an artwork by climbing it?
In the framework of the exhibition Climbing a memory on view at Forum Box 6.-30.8.2026, artist Pavel Rotts invites the audience to climb an installation that mimics a climbing wall, installed at the façade of the gallery.
Climbing hold of the installation are a memory in itself – they are resin casts taken from WWII bombing traces found on the walls of Helsinki. These negative sculptures show actual damage left by Soviet bombings during the air raids of 1939 and 1944. Installed on the façade of Forum Box, they become climbable objects that allow participants to physically interact with fragments of urban memory.
The sessions are free of charge and open to everyone, regardless of age or previous climbing experience. Participants will climb on a top-rope system under the supervision of a professional instructor, and all necessary equipment will be provided. Please wear comfortable shoes and flexible clothing that do not restrict movement.
When: 23.8. and 30.8. between 14.00-16.00
