Heli Valkama (b. 1988, Helsinki) is a visual artist-musician whose work focuses on installation, printmaking and multimedia methods and their interplay. Her multidisciplinary work also includes music and performance, which continue the observation of spatiality, spatial use and interaction in space.
Valkama graduated as a visual artist from Lappeenranta LAB University of Applied Sciences 2025 and studied media at the Sámi Education Centre. In addition to Helsinki and Lappeenranta, Valkama’s experimental short film Omaelämänkerta has been shown in Kirkenes, Norway at the Finnmark Flicker Festival, and the short documentary Jaakko Gauriloff – lääulam tu’nne/ laulan sinlelu has been seen at the Cultural Centre Caisa, the Kolttakino and the indigenous film festival Skábmagov. She is active in the South Karelian Artists’ Association, the Sámi Art Support Association and is a member of MUU ry. She lives and works mainly in Lappeenranta. In 2026, Valkama’s work has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre of Finland.
