SARI PALOSAARI

Sari Palosaari works in the fields of sculpture and site-sensitive spatial ensembles. Her works unfold through simple gestures, assemblages, and layers within architectural space. Palosaari is drawn to the movement of materials, bodies, and energy, and the transformations taking place in their contact, but also to the possibility of performing an imaginative, systemic cutting through scales and spacetimes. From this cross-section, a space of becoming wedges open, where new connections, meanings, and unruly alliances can emerge. The exhibition installations open up like a pasture, a place for free wandering and the flow of thought where time and matter occasionally coalesce as objects.

Her work draws from the thresholds of infrastructure and knowledge and counts on the embodied
consciousness. For the upcoming exhibition titled Substrate, her groundwork has involved scraping the city surfaces and engaging in dialogue with solar physicists.

Sari Palosaari’s works have been featured in venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, the Helsinki Biennial 2021, the Department of Geophysics at the University of Helsinki, and Art Ii Biennial as part of the Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture events. She has also completed public art projects, most recently the printed facade patterns and interior sculptural ensemble for the HUS Bridge Hospital. Her works are represented in the collections of EMMA, the Finnish State Art Collection and Kiasma.

Palosaari is preparing the upcoming exhibition with funding from the Alfred Kordelin Foundation.
