Introducing: Henna Aho
One dark and gloomy day 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐡𝐨 sat in the tram on her way home, feeling melancholic as she was paying a visit to her new exhibition, unsure about how it was going. When she opened her emails on her phone she read: “I’ve been accepted to have an exhibition at Forum Box.” It was a really weird moment, she says, because she realized that one of her biggest dreams came true. She calls it some sort of special point in her life, because she had “come so much further on that path that, […] now there is some kind of language that I have developed, that has been understood.” She has had the wish of exhibiting in Forum Box for a long time, but always felt like she was not one of those who were “fancy enough” to be there. Proof her wrong! She is now one of our most recent members and is the one to take part in setting the tone of the contemporary Finnish art scene.
𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐡𝐨 lives and works in Turku. She graduated from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in 2022 and has also studied at the University of Arts and Design Helsinki. Her works are objects and paintings, with the recurring theme of liveliness that she seeks to create by integrating objects and materials of her close surroundings. She therefore creates art inside of the “current situation”. Light, people, her feelings and the art space itself form the art piece. Aho’s work is represented in the collections of Oulu Art Museum, HAM Helsinki Art Museum, Turku City, Turku University of Applied Sciences and the Finnish National Gallery.
