Introducing: Enoch Bergsten
“If you work in the cultural field, it helps to know people and be involved in different galleries or collectives”, the Helsinki-based, Minnesota-born visual artist 𝐄𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧 says. He never thought too much about becoming part of a collective or group, until his very first exhibition at Forum Box back in 2017. But then he noticed that it was quite fun to connect to people and a big network. “It makes sense to meet other people, you get hints about what to do.” He was most active in 2017, after that life happened, he got kids and changed focusses. Nowadays he is not as involved anymore, but he still joins us for special occasions.
𝐄𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧’s recent works deal with empathy and malignancy. Within his drawings he tries to show kindness, but at the same time a certain meanness should shine through. Usually he looks for things that are on the borders of his brain, where unspoken things happen. Enoch graduated from Vapaa Taidekoulu in 2008 where he studied fine arts. He lives and works in Helsinki.
