Introducing: Paula Tella

One of the big motivations for visual and performative artist 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 to join the Cooperative Forum Box was a sense of belonging: “Being part of the group gives you this sort of mental and emotional support, you know you belong somewhere, because when you’re alone you are kind of of isolated, because the work that you do is so much at the edge of society. Plus if you just work on your own, I dont think it’s good for your mental health.” The space and people are really warm and welcoming, she says. That makes it easy to be active and take part. She had her first rehearsal in Forum Box already in 2009 and has known the art space for 20 years now.

𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 is a Helsinki-based visual and performative artist and yoga teacher. She works in the wide field of contemporary and performative art, on group and individual projects. Currently she is focussing on the externalization of internal processes. For example, how meditation manifests on a person’s outside as well as the inside. Changes that come with repetitive processes and moments of embodiments are themes of her works. Paula graduated as a fine artist in 1992 from the Lahti Art Institute and from the sculpture department at the Academy of Fine Arts in 2008.
